We had a contract with JAR Painting to update a small 1 bedroom condo. Our agent had recommended him and so we had high hopes. They started strong, but then disappeared on and off the job and suddenly a 6-8 week job, turned into 7 months of which they burned through the money and tried a squeeze more where they could. In the end, we ended up hiring another contractor for $600 to finalize some painting and more. Moreover, he took my condo buildings garage key, which ended up costing me an additional $100 to replace with the HOA. The endless amount of time, text messages, and phone calls to chase these guys down was frustrating to no end. I would avoid JAR if you have any sort of timeline you're working off of.
