My journey into professional organizing began in my own home. When you read articles and Pinterest posts about how to make the most of a small space, ours is the kind they're talking about. We are raising our family of five (my husband, two energetic children, a Newfoundland and me) in a 975-square-foot, 1-story ranch. Early on, we considered moving from our “starter home” to something bigger. But we've found a lot of benefits to living in a smaller space — lower mortgage payment, more family time and owning less stuff, to name a few. We reimagined, remodeled and reorganized our house. We stamped it with a yellow door and made it home. Yes, it is a challenge keeping a clutter-free space, especially with young children and busy lifestyles. It can feel impossible. But I promise you, it's not. Before venturing into the organization business, I worked for years as a designer and editor for major newspapers and magazines. I also spent a year studying pastry arts at Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago. My creativity informs everything I do. So whether you’re living in an apartment, a starter home or a 4-story Victorian, it’s worth it to make your space work for you.
