Capstone Exterior Design Firm

What a nightmare. I've been dealing with this firm for over a year now without satisfaction. In January 2014 we had the Textcote and Coolwall product installed by a crew that was sent out by Capstone. We originally saw the coating at Costco, which appeared to offer a fair price. The installation and painting resulted in the texturing compound flaking off with a brush of your hand. I sent Daniel both a video and pictures of the issue. He assured me he would take care of it. Recently, we discovered that the crew had textured and painted over some roof flashing, causing water to penetrate the stucco near our back door. The only reason we did not see this earlier was due to a potted plant that partially obscured the wall. When we moved the plant, voila! A nice big water bubble! Now, in addition to a house that has numerous white marks due to the coating not adhering, we have a serious water penetration issue. I have emailed his "customer service" rep, Kristina, to no avail. I will be seeking a refund (almost $20,000) from my credit card company and hope that they will accommodate me. I will also be reporting this the Trusted Home Services company that Costco used, in addition to Costco. I will also be filing with the Better Business Bureau to alert the public to this firm. I know that some window replacement and painting crews are fly by night, and these guys fit the bill.

I would not recommend ever doing business with Capstone Exterior Design Firm. The VP of the company, came out to do the consult. Everything he said sounded great and costs weren’t even that high. We wanted a pool enclosure in our backyard and needed permission from the city to build the structure. After we signed a contract, Capstone then charged us $18,800 for a down payment. When I asked why they charged so much, he got very defensive and said ‘Who does any work without any down payment’. That was when I started to feel a little uneasy about working with them. His tone completely changed from when we first met him. Even though I said the amount seemed to be a lot instead of the $1,000 he originally said was going to be charged, he said he made a mistake. Being the VP of the company, I doubt he actually forgot how much the down payment should be. After the designer, who does not work for Capstone but was recommended, went to the city multiple times, he concluded that the job could not be done. So then we could not move forward and would need to get the $18,800 deposit back. After talking, we didn’t get our refund for over a month. When I tried to talk about it, he made excuses after excuses, and finally said that the CFO wanted to come out to see if there was anything else that could be done. They obviously didn’t want to give up the money that easily. But never gave me a call back, nor was I ever able to reach him at the office. They were avoiding my calls. They have done zero work and I should not have to be charged anything.
