Ground Support is based in Redmond (Seattle), Washington, and is dedicated to delivering high value to our clients through a thorough knowledge of all types of earth retention and foundation systems, and the detailed application of geotechnical and structural engineering principles to address special situations. Our clients include specialty and general contractors, commercial developers, and commercial and public agency owners. We understand the performance, applicability, advantages/disadvantages, and construction methods and costs of these earth retention and foundation systems. This understanding allows us to identify the most appropriate system for a specific application and prepare designs that are both functional and constructable. Key Personnel Ground Support was co-founded by R. John Byrne, P.E., Ph.D. and Chris J. Wolschlag, P.E., Ph.D. Ground Support provides complete design services for the following types of earth retention and foundation systems: -Soil Nail Walls Anchored Walls (Soldier Pile, Secant Pile, Soil-Mixed -Wall, Jet-Grouted) -Reticulated Micropile Walls -Cantilevered Walls -Internally-Braced and Rakered Walls -Various Proprietary Wall Systems Reinforced, -Fill Walls and Slopes -Specialty Foundation Systems (Pinpiles, Micropiles) We prepare complete design packages, construction drawing sets and specifications. We can adapt these systems to support complex surface and subsurface loadings, and to accommodate complex wall geometries. We work with owners and their representatives to provide owner designs and prebid consultation, and we work with contractors to provide preliminary designs for cost-estimating, as well as design-build and value-engineering design services. Furthermore, during construction, we provide on-going design support and consultation. Ground Support works in the public agency civil infrastructure industry (e.g., highways), the public utility arena (e.g., transmission towers), and the commercial building construction industry (e.g. parking garages). We design both temporary shoring and permanent structural walls (e.g. shotcrete or cast-in-place), and work with owner’s structural engineers, when required, to integrate the temporary shoring into the permanent structural support system. Ground Support also provides complete design solutions for major landslide repair and residential and commercial slope remediation.
