The Home Improvement Center

I first hired them to replace a skylight for me in December of 2014 and although there were a couple of small leaks, the crew from HIC came out promptly and fixed them. When my wife and I decided to replace some single pane windows in our kitchen, I once again contacted The Home Improvement Center. The demo work entailed removing some molding, four upper cabinets and five small windows. The new installation required some framing including an engineered header, one large window, some sheetrock repair, moving one electrical box and some outside stucco work. I was given an estimate on 2/9/15 and ten days later, Bob and Scott came out to take final window measurements and provide a final quote. I was told the window would take three weeks to arrive and that the job would take about 3 days to complete! As with the first project, I paid for the job IN FULL (a mistake I will never again repeat). To make a VERY, VERY long story short, it is now 7 months later and the job is STILL NOT finished. The original window did not fit since no allowance had been made for the new header, and I now have three new windows instead of the ONE I was promised, and two of those have had multiple leaking issues when it rains. NO stucco work has been done yet, the trim around the cabinets is crooked, and the electrical was not moved to the location agreed upon at the time of the quote. Bob is a very polite gentleman and is quick to make promises, but I would NEVER hire this company again to do ANY work for me. Their pricing is good, but the quality of work is poor and the non-existent project management and awful scheduling and communication will test anyone’s patience. My wife changed her schedule on multiple occasions to accommodate a crew that was either late or didn’t show up at all.
