Absolute nightmare-I rue the day I contracted with Veritas. In short: We paid a premium price for custom mill work but did not get what we ordered and had to hire another cabinet shop and painter to finish/correct the job. Byron is a nice guy, but that is about the only thing going for this cabinet shop. The project (for a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a laundry/utility room) was quoted at 10-12 weeks but took 13 MONTHS and the results were NOT what we ordered as well as required hiring another cabinet shop to finish the project! Other than the extreme delinquency in the delivery, one of the biggest concessions we made was in regards to the style of doors. The cabinet door style were ordered with inset panels (shaker-esque) and ovolo router detailing on the inside edge. The router detail was omitted and by the time we saw the doors (7 months into the project and well beyond the initial deadline) we burgeoningly accepted the shaker doors in effort to keep the project on track. However, the ovolo detail was ordered specifically to match the doors throughout the rest of the house and if I wanted Home-Depot looking cabinets, I would not have spent the money on custom mill work. The quality of workmanship was hit or miss (and frequent miss at that). One of the cabinets received was so badly warped it could not be installed and we sent it back to have it remade. Other cabinets were made to the wrong size (and others were off due to the sub-par designer, Randy Morgan who was referred to us through Veritas). Double cabinets with four doors have mis-matching sized doors. The cabinets also have edging that is heat-applied tape and not painted, so when you open the cabinet door, you see a mis-matched color border that does not match the painted cabinets. Again, very Home-Depot-esque. We would hear for months that parts are in finishing (painting), and in the last round the same excuses prevailed for the replacement doors and trim panels, and we were told they were waiting for paint only to find out that the panels hadn’t even been made yet after we pushed a bit. We ended up picking up the un-finished doors and having the remaining panels fabricated by a different cabinet shop. However, after having a different painter finish the doors and panels with the paint provided by Veritas, the color was incorrect and the doors/panels had to be re-finished after getting the correct color match. So between not providing what we ordered, the marginal (at best) workmanship, blatant deception about project status, and added costs of hiring other folks to make it right and finish the project, I cannot in good consciousness recommend Veritas for custom mill work.
