Pankow Construction - Design/Remodeling - PHX, AZ Audrey, its is an elkay beverage sink. Our client uses to chill wines/ other beverages when they are entertaining. It has a drain so at the end of the party all the ice can drain to the waste line. They also place potted plants in it when it is not in use, this way they can water them and not have to worry about water overflowing.
akcorcoran I noticed it doesn't have water (a faucet) - do they simply fill a container and pour over when watering or cleaning the sink? We're considering this in a wet bar but there is no full sink on the same side. thx!
What brand of microwave is this? Is it a built in or freestanding?
What are the dimensions? The microwave placement is the one part of our kitchen design we are having major issues with and I really like the way this looks. Thanks! »
Monique Jacqueline Design Usually you order a standard cabinet box, 24" cabinet box without doors and order the microwave trim kit. Sometimes the trim kit cost is close to the cost of the microwave but the trim kit is what provides the built in look!
Monique Jacqueline Design Also, have you given any thought to an under-counter location for the microwave? I have been doing more and more under-counter locations, still utilizing the trim kit.
Pankow Construction - Design/Remodeling - PHX, AZ The wall color is: Restoration Hardware - Atmosphere Blue, and I apologize but I do not remember the exact cabinet color we used.
Microwave trim kit flush? - Is this a GE Deluxe Trim kit and if so, is it flush with the cabinetry around it? Are there vent slats on the side where you can see into the 'parts' of the microwave and trim kit for venting? We are having trouble finding out this information. Thank you!!!! »
For years there was a trend of putting the cooktop in the island, but it was never a design I was crazy about. The reason: Unless you do a downdraft hood, you end up blocking the view you're trying to open by using an island in the first place. And while downdrafts might work well enough, they don't work as well as canopy hoods. The nice thing about putting the main sink in the island in lieu of the cooktop is that you get to use pendant lighting and keep the space feeling open and airy.
this is another example of how snug these built in fridges look. it is like they are pegs made to go into a hole in a pegboard. a peg only goes so far, and then it hits the pegboard and stops. the fridge should only go in so far, and then it should hit the cabinet frame and stop. so there is almost negative space around the fridge. no dead air space at all because the front of the fridge is in front of the cabinet box.
