This salvaged kitchen sink was found awhile ago by the client who new she wanted to use it if ever she renovated. Integrated beautifully into the Danby marble countertop and backsplash with new fixtures it is a real joy to clean up. This kitchen was formerly a dark paneled, cluttered, divided space with little natural light. By eliminating partitions and creating an open floorplan, as well as adding modern windows with traditional detailing, providing lovingly detailed built-ins for the clients extensive collection of beautiful dishes, and lightening up the color palette we were able to create a rather miraculous transformation. Smith & Vansant Architects PC The majority of the house is radiant heat, taking advantage of the boiler upgrade. The guest bedroom does have some cast iron heaters. Often radiant heat isn't recommended for bedrooms, where people want a little more instantaneous control.
Smith & Vansant Architects PC Hello,
This is a Marvin Wood French Casement window directly above the sink (WFCM5640). This is a nice unit in that the sash both open out without anything obscuring the view. The frame size is 4' - 8 1/2" wide x 3' -4 1/8" high. The windows to the left and right of the sink are also Marvin Wood Casement windows (WCM2848) with a frame size of 2' - 4 1/2" wide x 4' - 0 1/8" high.
Hope that helps!
Smith & Vansant Architects PC Hello,
Yes, that is Danby marble on both the counter and backsplash. The quarry in Danby, VT provided most of the marble you see on the Mall in Washington D.C..
Hope that helps!
Smith & Vansant Architects PC Hello,
The paint in this kitchen are from the Donald Kaufman Color collection (by Pratt & Lambert). The wall color is DKC-18, Latex Eggshell, the ceiling is DKC-29 Latex flat. The trim is DKC-54, Alkyd Satin, and the cabinets are DKC-16, Alkyd Satin.
Hope that helps!
jczerenda The actual DKC-16 color chip is very taupe, the cabinets in the photo look more yellow. Was it the lighting that changed the way the cabinets appear?
Patrick Gill I cannot find a stand alone Rohl sprayer and small faucet on their website or any website for that matter that looks like this. By any chance do you have an exact model of the Rohl sprayer and small Rohl lever control in use here as I would like to install exactly this arrangement to complement my wall mounted faucet?
Smith & Vansant Architects PC I would get on the phone with a Rohl dealer and ask how you order the "Rohl Country Kitchen Collection Single lever sidespray" that would be the best way to proceed. Good luck.
The renovation began with the kitchen, and the kitchen began with this oversized salvaged sink, which had been waiting in the barn for years for its moment in the sun. "We laid out the kitchen and the windows around this huge sink; it was one of those fun constraints that winds up driving a design," Smith says.
This entire kitchen was designed around this oversized salvaged sink, which the homeowner had been saving in her barn for years. The counter and windows had to be worked around it, and it was well worth the effort. The wall-mounted faucet is by Rohl.
