Even if you did plant individual plants in their own space within 1 year they would all have reseeded where ever they please. Yarrow is very invasive so see if maybe just buy individual seeds and scatter them all over and that way you can avoid yarrow then just mow down whenever they start going crazy that is the great thing about wildflower gardens. And you know that alot of plants we think are weeds are really just wildflowers.

Guess I'll just get used to the look of the wildflower/weed pollinator patch! Better that than a flat and green lawn dead zone.)) Will specify a seed mix without yarrow next time.

most folks don't realize the amount of work involved in a wildflower garden, which is why we don't touch 'em. Are you planning to still mow the area a couple of times a year, or will it be totally left alone? If left alone, you may want to research what are called "plant guilds" and seek out some combinations of shrubs and perennials that seem to work better together than separately. Since you mention pollinators I'm sure you'll dig the extra layer of biodiversity :)

So true Revolutionary...the amount of work involved is probably one reason why our pollinators are in peril and why I'm learning new ways to landscape. But not having to weed kinda levels the playing field of the amount of work involved. The look isn't refined like an English garden but like you say the extra layer of biodiversity is worth it. Been working with this for four years now. Mow in the spring (not fall so the critters have habitat during the winter) and mow if I get an outbreak of a particular weed that I don't want to go to seed. Perhaps I just need to mow, kill and reseed every 4 years or so. Not familiar with plant guilds but will look into it! Thanks!
