Kale could still work and lettuce as well. I just started 7 containers of lettuce today and expect to get a good harvest.

Redbor kale both looks good and tastes good. Some of mine are a few years old. In your zone, swiss chard, (e.g., one of the colors), may winter over and still taste good. Enjoy.

Full shade or light shade? If light shade (or reflected light), you are not very limited. You can select from a variety of hardy, mostly evergreen perennials (euphorbias, heucheras, bergenia, small evergreen grasses) groundcovers and seasonal annual-type plants like pansies, mums, dusty miller and ornamental cabbages and kale.
