That entirely depends on a) the nutrient status of the plants and b) how rich your soil is. If they are healthy and dark green, and your soil is rich, fertilizer is not necessary. If either situation is not the case, a little bit of organic fertilizer will help.

3-4-6 is not nitrogen-rich by any means. All plants need nitrogen, even when flowering. Something like Miracle Gro 24-8-16, on the other hand, would be too high in nitrogen to be used as a frequent fertilizer.

Ah, thank you for the heads up! My neighbor probably thought I as using Miracle Gro or something to that extent. My soil is very rich! I guess I should cut back on the fertilizer for now. Thank you :)

Let's not forget that 24-8-16 is only the percentage of the chemicals in the whole box/bottle. It's still a 3-1-2 ratio and is basically no worse than any fertilizer if used in smaller doses. If you quadrupled the volume of the 24-8-16, you'd have a 6-2-4 fertilizer.

I agree that the Tomato Tone is fine...and will be rather slow acting. I even use some other stronger stuff at the same time. The result in my rich soil is giant healthy plants

Tomato Tone is especially made for tomatoes. Great for peppers also. Just follow directions.
