Celebrating The 4th of July

This weekend is the huge 4th of July Celebration in our little village. There will be food, music bands, a parade, D.J. at the pool, jump houses, zip lines, Euro bungie jumping, (cant you just see me upside down in my over-alls) and a Fireworks show over the lake. There is even a booth to get your eyebrows tweezed with thread (stop laughing, it's true). It's called eyebrow threading. It's the newest pain designed for women since "WAXING" (an' I'm not talkin' about the floor). "Come on Hon, I want to get to the "Revolutionary Blast" (that's what they're calling it) so I can be the first in line to get my body hair ripped out while eating a Turkey Leg (which are $5.00 this year)".

Sound great?????? Well, it rained us out for the past two years in a row! The parade doesn't have a marching band. Just a bunch of us goofy types with pinwheels on our heads. However, the fire trucks and police cars are there. They use to really excite me as a kid. Now everytime I hear a police car I wonder how much it's gonna cost me when I pull over.

Oh yeah, LIFE FLIGHT helecopter will also touch down in our park. That is just one more thing that will make my "celebration" complete. Righhhhhhht. (This is just precausionary in case the zip-line breaks when a certain fat 50 year old is on it.)

Both Hubs and I are planning on going this year. I've got the his & her headbands with the pinwheels mounted on springs. I'll get the "forgot to take her meds" stares from the neighbors. That's OK cause I'm planning to slide into home base during my 2nd childhood.

You did it again....got me grinnin' ear to ear.
I love your home and yard. And your bike looks super decorated for the 4th.

I've been in a bah-humbug mood since Easter. Usually I'm so up for holiday decorating. Just before Memorial Day I pull out my red-white-blue things and do the front patio and the family-room mantle and some other areas. Then kick back and enjoy it till July 5th or so. I blew it this year. Finally did my front patio last weekend. But just had no energy to do inside this time. Wish I had.

Send me some of your energy, SusieRose, I need to snap out of this vegetating mode.
    hugs, Karen

Very festive!! Love your bike finished & "planted" & loaded with sparklers??? Cute!! Parades are such fun, mostly watching the excitement on faces of little ones!! You take those sparklers & twirl them in your overalls & they will make you the "Queen of the Parade"! Jan

Thank ya'll for the added cheer!

Vickie- Thank you. Yes we did have some neighbor children get their pictures made here yesterday. The R/W/B plumes came from probably Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. I'm pretty good at saving things from year to year like most pack rats.

We went out to the parade, pinwheels twirling in the wind on the tops of our heads. The Village newsletter photographer came and photographed me and Hubs standing out there looking like the fat and older version of "4th of July Barbie and Ken". We got all kinds of candy thrown ***AT**** us. LOL The neighbors inquired about how much coffee we had drank that morning. I think they are planning an INTERVENTION for sure now.

Ya'll there was no marching band, no drum chore, nothing that made me hop the barracades and join the parade. How can you get parade happy without the sound of sweaty feet marching in white boots???? No veterans, no rifle chore. There was not one baton except on the belts of the policemen (we wont go there). My New Orleans exposure wanted the opporitunity to grab a handkercheif and wave it around and prance along after the a band. BUT NO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O. Hubs says that I should insist on being on the parade committee next year.

I'm half joking because we are but a little Village and not a city. But even a BOOM BOX playing "Stars and Strips Forever" would have helped. Life needs Music as a backdrop.

Sweet karen- when things are not clicking, you have got to change the Spiritual environment. Put on the music that appeals to the proper mood that you need to be in. Hubs installed speakers throughout the house a couple of years ago (he crashed through the ceiling but that is another story). He even put them on the front and back porches. When I need to garden out front, I play nature music and the song "What A Wonderful World'. If I need to reflect on my grandbabylove, I play Connie Talbot. If I need to pray, I play Spiritual music. Being around my house is like being in a dramatic soap opera without the organ music. (Ya have to draw the line somewhere, LOL). But I had myself all jacked up for this parade thingy by watching videos of marching bands on the Internet. When I am truly down and out I usually tell Hubs, "I just cant hear the music lately". But search because music can be powerful. Heaven is supposed to be full of LIVE music!!!!

Anywho, we went to the fireworks display and guess what? The fireworks Company had huge speakers with contemporary Patriotic songs!!!! It was a mezmerising (sp?) light show. I cant say that I got the whole 1776 feel for what happened but I can assure you those Freedom Fighters were sweatin' in July.
