Well, you did great! I have the same backup for my 10424. I always "flip" my self propelled Lawnboys as I prefer the push models as well.

The 10424 is definately one to be pampered and preserved. The 10247 is a worthy "daily driver".

Sounds like a good deal to me, I have three 10323 Duraforce powered Lawn-Boy's that are my daily drivers and they do not disapoint! The Duraforce engines are powerful performers once you get the carbs sorted out, I also have a 10424 that I am fixing to install ball bearing greasable wheels on to make it even easier to push. Great find!

Rolm, yes they are model numbers. I got the 10247 home and I had to cut the grass with it right away! It runs super and will probably be the "daily driver" now.

The guy had plenty of self propel models: 10550, 10323 and others. I have such a small yard that I bypassed those and settled on the 10247. If he had had a 10424, I would likely have bought that instead.

The wife drove up and she didn't realize that I was using a different machine. She probably wouldn't have noticed at all until she saw them side-by-side had I not told her.

I was surprised that she wasn't mad at me for getting a used machine vs. new.

What is the difference between the 8480 and the 8481. Had both and they are the same mower.
