I'm no expert, but it looks like the stuff I've been ripping out of flower beds here in the central U.S. The roots are thick. The plant grows up and produces seeds, but it also spreads by underground roots that travel horizontally. I thought it was field grass/agriculture that's spread from a field. Just buy yourself a cow and you'll have great grazing.

Is that the crop or a weed within the crop? If the whole field is that stuff (as it appears from the background) possibly it's Winter Wheat. But at that stage of growth it could be any cereal crop. Not sure the farmer will appreciate people pulling up his crop ;-)

Looks like a weed I fight every year. Look up Elytrigia repens.

I don't think this is couch grass. I see no rhizomes and the field in the background appears to be planted with the same plant. I'm still going with winter wheat until the OP comes back with more info.

It looks about right to me for winter wheat or winter rye which gets planted here as a green manure crop and then turned under about now so that corn can be planted, though it could also be grown to maturity/

Here WW is grown as a crop in itself rather than a green manure. Typically it is sown in October and harvested the following August.
