Solar Pest Repellers

Have any of you tried these in your veggie plots?

I just spotted them in BJ's the other day, initially to use as outdoor repellents near the house, but then remembered DH's garden and how the vine borers prematurely kill his vines and the bean beetles his green beans every summer, so I asked him to give them a try.

They're similar to the ones plugged in in houses to repel mice, and are supposed to have a range of about 70 feet.

I plan to retrieve them in the fall to use nearer to the house.

According to the advertising hype about these pest repelers they emit an ultrasonic sound that you cannot hear that either drives the target pest away or kills them. There is no real good evidence they work and my experience is they do not work. The same thing applies to those windmills or solar powered mole/gopher repelers that are supposed to emit a low, or sometimes high, frequency sound that repels those buggers, there is no evidence that they really work.
