Physocarpus summer wine

I fell in love with this shrub after seeing a branch at a flower shop. But found out the size of this shrub, at most websites, is 5-6 x 5-6 feet. One internet seller, NatureHills.com, lists it as 6 feet high by 3 feet wide at maturity, still a little wide for my space. Would anyone know if any breeder is developing a dwarf variety of this plant that would be, say, 4-5' high by approximately 2 feet wide at maturity? If not, any suggestions for a pretty flowering shrub about the 4-5 x 2' size would be welcome. I particularly am interested in a plant that does not need a lot of pruning or maintenance. I live in NYC, zone 6-7, depending on the map. The plants would be getting afternoon sun. Thank you!
