French Lace Weigela Wilting in Sun

I purchased a French Lace Weigela Friday and planted it Sunday (w/ compost, black earth and native soil) in a full sun spot, watered well then it rained later that afternoon and into the evening. This morning is looked beautiful but now, at 2:21 p.m., it is wilted.

While it was in the original pot, it wilted in the sun so I moved it to the shade where it perked up considerably. What's up with that?? (This is my first Weigela.)

transplant shock ... let us know if it recovers overnight ... if so.. thats all the evidence you need ...

you dont mention how big ,.... if possible.. shade it for a week or two ...

this is one reason some peeps suggest.. there are proper planting seasons ... and day heat is already building.. substantially increasing transplant shock ...

i would not have amended the planting hole...

It is important to keep the root ball very moist while it becomes established....rain will never be enough water to keep the root ball damp.....so....stick your finger at the base og your plant and water accordingly......
