Michael, how long has it been there? Does it bloom? Is there anything growing close by that it could have seeded from? Does a neighbor have a garden that could have been a source of seeds. Do you have a bird feeder in the tree?

I have no idea how long it has been there. I have not seen blooms. There is nothing it could have seeded from, but I think this part of the yard was a garden (mabye) because I found mono grass growing wild. There is not a bird feeder in that tree. Any ideas?

Probably something in the Aster (Daisy) Family, of which there are tends of thousands of kinds. Without any flowers...

I'm thinking this is could be lambsquarters or pigweed.... a weed. Botanical name is Chenopodium album. If that's what it is, it can grow quite tall and the taller it grows, the larger the leaves get. Good news, it's very easy to pull up. Bad news: it produces a bazillion seeds so it sprouts up everywhere. As it grows a bit taller, if you post some other pix here, I could probably confirm for you. I have several photos of the more mature plant in my own garden....

Not sure what it is but it is not Chenopodium album. I'd say wait and see what it does in the spring. You can always share more photos then. The plant may grow more and get more of an identifiable look.

Looks like a smooth aster. Can't tell which.
It's not lamb's quarter or pigweed.
