After enjoying the pics of that hickory with the emerging leaves, I thought some of you might like the following pics of my chalk maple as it pushes some new growth out. It is very vivid in person and reminds me in a way of my Rising Sun redbud (with different colors of course). Looking at these pics on my phone is pretty close to what it looks like in person. My laptop monitor really washes the color out for some reason... hope they turn out better on your computer monitor.

As you can see from one of the pics, the plant is extremely dense around the previous years growth. You can't see the trunk from just about any angle! The leader stopped growing a couple weeks ago when it got cold again, but has now broke bud again and has begun pushing out new leaves. All the other non-dominant branches never stopped growing :)
