Emergency - how do I plant these chestnuts?

My neighbors just cut down their incredibly beautiful, healthy, 130+ year old chestnut tree. I was able to salvage two fallen chestnuts before it was all fed into the chipper. The tree was important to me and to many people so I feel it's very important that I plant the two remaining chestnuts . I figured I'd start them in a big bucket for now (we have lots of squirrels) but I don't know how or even if I can, since it's July and 82 degrees out. If I can't plant them, I don't know how to store them. I have them in the fridge right now and am praying that was the right thing to do.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks so much.
