Can I plant somewhere where there is soap?

I have never been able to grow a garden because every year I tend to put it in the wrong spot. I have found the perfect place to plant my garden this year, the only problem is that the washing machine water runs out there. Would it kill my garden if it got watered with the soapy water?

You might ask on the New to Gardening forum, or call your county's Agricultural Extension agent.

(My understanding is that a little soap in the water won't hurt, but I don't know how much would be too much.)

I would make sure to get biodegradable soap WITHOUT phosphates. Amway/Quickstar makes some. You definatly should talk to your extention agent.
