Straighten it out and split it. If there is no evidence of new leaves pushing out past the bend in a couple weeks, then cut the trunk just below the bend and let the leaves push out from there.

Thanks Pitangadiego for the prompt reply. Do you mean split it like running a knife right through the middle of the trunk? Do I split it right down to the base of the trunk? Should I remove all the existing leaves first before splitting it? As always, your advice is greatly valued.

I would cut it about middle ways and look for signs of life
a lot of times when you think a banana is dead it will come back and surprise you.

So, I did split up the pseudostem in the middle and chopped off half of it. Now, see what I've got!!! I was glad I went to check on it because there were some potted soil sitting at the base of the banana. One pup was trying to emerge (the white stub on the right) and it got kind of crushed. I hope it will come around. There's another one to right (furthest back). That one looks dried up. Hopefully it will turn around too. Now I'll have more pups to play around. These are really beautiful plants albeit they're really cold sensitive. I was also more motivated, so I mulched up the entire area there, so they get better chance of growing up healthily. Thought you might enjoy seeing this update and thanks again.
