Mine were almost looking like that, then the snails bit their heads off.
There are little tiny tiny leaves forming on top of the stumps now.
I hope they make it.

I know what you mean PA. Those I manage to save. I am not that lucky when they eat my seedlings.I am left with nothing or just a stick and soon they die. It is unbelievable how destructive snails and slugs are. The other day I planted few more tomatoes seedlings (they already eat 6) and I forgot to put DE around them. I wake up in the middle of the night remembering, armed with a flashlight and DE off I went to powder them. I am at war with my army of snails.

Hi, Pat, I'm just back from a 7 day cruise, can you believe I was anxious to get home???? Silly, huh!
Your seedlings look great. I do have a few make it that are nearly beheaded but they get way behind the other seedlings in growth.
You can try this simple solution for the slugs/snail. Take 1 cup plain ammonia (without detergent) add 10 cups of water and spray around rocks, walls, on top of heavy mulch and around the bases of your plants, anywhere the slugs may be hiding- slugs die with this treatment and the ammonia provides some nitrogen! I use this around my hostas.

Well I got some seeds from Brenda and Kylie planted them I forget the % of germination but it was GOOD! so then I transplanted some to the ground leftsome in pots, and then the CATERPILLARS Ate most of them! I have 3 skinny stalks and most of my seedlings are GONE! the sad part is I was so proud of our babies, I even envisioned how they would look like in a flower bed of their own. I amhoping the little stalks will revive, time will tell.

I started some seeds about a month ago and I have been planting more each week. The fist ones I planted are up and have 2 leaves each. Should be some interesting plants since they are nice crosses.
