Randy! what are you talking about?
We've been picking those mushrooms and calling them 'high hats', for years and we're still here to talk about them. Of course, they have other names, but they still taste great. We just wash them and fry them like the morels, in fact, they sometimes have better flavor than morels.

I ended up harvesting about a pound and a half or so. washed, dipped in flour then egg then breadcrumbs and saute' in butter.
They were all black morels, I'm still alive and scouring the woods for more.hehe. There are two that I left that are about to set out spores for next year, I have high hopes. mmmmmmm. thanks all!!
