Rooting Aloe cuttings?

Hey, everyone,

My sister recently pruned her large aloe plant and was about to throw away the cuttings when I intervened and offered to take them. However, I know that other species of aloes (or at least my aloe Vera) normally propagate through pups rather than cuttings. Is there any way I can salvage these and get them to root by allowing the callus to heal, applying rooting hormone, and setting them in moist soil? What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance for your sage advice.

Here's the original mama plant. I'm also having trouble deciding whether it's an aloe squarrosa or an aloe juvenna. Any ideas?

Hi & Yes,
You can save them, you can leave them out another day or 2. Then Pot them up DRY in the smallest clay pot you can find & then don't water for at least a week. I'd suggest some cactus & succulent mix & 30-50% extra perlite.

They should grow roots from the bottom under the
mix as if they were little pups, at least that's what I'd expect.
