I'm new to growing pumpkins also and today my grandchildren and I discovered pumpkins on our vines, we are so excited. We are also growing birdhouse gourds and apple gourds. I have learned that growing vegetables takes a lot of patience. I am hopeful that by Halloween we will have pumpkins and gourds. I am amazed at how fast the vines grow and how much room they need. Just keep checking and I'm sure there will be pumpkins soon. Good Luck.

I am new to growing pumpkins as well. This year I planted mini pumpkins and ornamental gourds in large pots and made a teepee-like trellis around the pots. At least four of the plants are growing strong with an abundance of blossoms, but I am not seeing what should resemble fruit yet. Most of the blossoms appear to be female. Is that a good sign? I planted these on June 1......if I do get fruit, at what point will it resemble it?

Also, how much should I help the plant with support? I have used some plastic ties and dental floss to gently support it. What else do I need to be doing?

I do know under the flower will be the fruit or pumpkin. It is Aug 16th. I have lots of vines and flowers. Things have been pretty healthy and lots of bees. I do see lighting bugs in there...but that shouldnt be a problem. Still no pumpkins..

Any know at what point do I give up? and is there anything I should "feed" the vines?

If you planted the seeds in July, you should start seeing more fruit in September. Just give it some time. They should be ready around Halloween.

I planted last couple days of april, i think i made a big mistake, by the 15th of june i already had pumpkins growing and now at the 24th, i have well over a dozen or two. Will they be done to early? I planted 10 plants all have thrived, I have 10' vines going everywhere in my sunflowers and corn and well everywhere. I am still getting new flowers everyday and upwards of 4 pumpkins on one vine. Should I think or let them go?
