Hardy Kiwi care?

Last year I plant a female and a male Hardy Kiwi. The male is over 7 feet tall up the trellis, with at least one smaller vine at the bottom (about 6" or so). The female is a tiny thing around 4" tall if that. Should I prune the male? I read last year to expect the male to grow alot larger than the female. I had also read that I could possibly even have fruit this year.

Does anyone else grow this and can give me more info and tips? Thanks!

It took almost six years for my kiwis to mature enough to produce fruit. When both flower prolifically, fruit to follow. Each year I give them a fertilizer spike designed for fruit trees, try to water them regularly and they do fine. They even survive the attacks by the rose chafers.
