Aloha, I can tell you my experience growing two varieties.
The yellow flesh honey fig (the exact name escapes me at his moment, Kudota?) and Brown turkey.
Both varieties fruit with NO chilling! Our temps here at sea level on the island of Kauai have never gone below 58 degrees in the last 16 yrs that we have lived here.We get fruit (quite a lot of it!) every year with no problem.
which is a good thing, because the birds love them too!

I live in Volcano on the Big Island and have recently purchased a fig. So far, it's in a pot and growing well and setting fruit. However, the resident critters (sparrows, calij pheasants, and mice) have a great liking for the fruit. It's putting on new growth this spring, and I have hight hopes for a harvest soon.

I live on (lowland windward) Oahu, and we have two fig varieties. One I believe is Kadota (greenish color), the other I don't know, but the skin is purplish black and the flesh red, and the grower told me that the chinese people like to use this one for soup. Both are still in pots, but the Kadota has fruited continuously for the last year or two since we bought it. The other has given only one or two fruits, it seems to be more seasonal. As far as I know, there are no mass commercial plantings of these anywhere on the islands, but you see them in people's yards fairly often. The temp here rarely drops below 60 deg F at night.
