last spring a had to transplant a tree peony. I put in a large foam patio planter over the summer it appeared to have died I never got to remove it from the planter and this spring I have noticed new growth. could a tree peony grow in a planter?

In China they have been growing in pots for a long time. But they have the expertise to do the proper root pruning to keep the plant happy.

Peonies of all types really like being planted in the ground.

I grow all my tree peony in pots with diameter from 40 to 60 cm. I've 7 of them. The oldest one is the 4 years old High Noon with 11 buds this year.
