We have had several weedeaters over the years. We currently have a Stihl and are very pleased with it. I've never had a Echo, but know someone who has one and they like it, but say it is really loud. (They all seem loud to me!)

You might want to go over to the tool forum here at Garden Web, which I think is called The Tool Shed, and search that forum for weedeater recommdations.

We have a lawn care business on the side and use a commercial Toro. Echo and Stihl are also good. STAY AWAY from Ryobi! We learned that one quick.

I just bought a Stihl FS 45. It was rated #1 in Consumer Reports. It was $140. Got it here in Ardmore at Pettit Machinery. It works really well and it's not too heavy, about 9 lbs.

Hi, I'm new but thought I'd chime in anyway. Bought hubby an Echo weedeater last year for Father's Day and he likes it. (So we bought a new Echo edger this year.)

I can't seem to find anyone selling Echo brand around the Grove area so I may have to go for the Stihl.

Whatever I buy will have to wait until next month so the old Bolen will have to limp on a little longer.

I have a Red Max weedeater. I bought it in 1998 and it still runs like a top. I am going to have to replace the head as I have worn it smooth out after all these years. I have the straight shaft and it is light and very easy to start. It has never failed to start even after setting all winter, but then again I always use use fuel stabilizer in all my equipment and that alone has saved me time and money. I got mine from a dealer here in Ada and I think he still sells them, but not for sure.

Because we have an acreage with the creek running through it, I wanted a fairly nice one. Went with a Honda HHT31S.

I've had it four 4 years now and love it. I like that it is a straight gasoline, no oil mix, engine. Has plenty of power. I've put blades on it and have cut down 2 inch diameter trunks and smaller.

It's very quiet when compared to others I've owned and is extremely easy to start.

Hands down a Stilh. super easy to work on less moving parts. avoid anything green.
