I have grown Peonies for many years with great results but I have had Sam Donaldson for awhile now and it never blooms for me. Is there a trick with this one? any suggestions? Thanks.
I was hopeing someone would answer you. Apparently Sam Donaldson is tempermental. If it likes where it is planted it is wonderful otherwise it sits and stews. See if it blooms this spring. If it does not more to a different location. I listened in on a discussion on this peony and according to the group it seems to like heavier soils and fertilzer. In BC you may not have the heavier soils.
Thank you, I will certainly try your suggestions. I bought this one after seeing it's rich dark color in a Peony display at a garden show a few years back. Will try the fertilizer for a couple of years, if that doesn't work I'll try moving it. A
