Indentify egg sack??

Hi, I have dozens of these little white globs on my rosemary. Never seen them before on these plants. They are about 1cm in diameter. Before I cut them off I wanted to find out if they are pest or beneficial. I'm suspecting the former.

It looks like spittle bug. You can spray them off with a hose.

My rosemary has the same stuff on it. I did spray it off with the hose, but they came back again with 48 hours. I'm going to do some more research on it.

You have to remove the nymph inside that glob of spit when spraying with water, or they will certainly come right back. If the infestation remains heavy, you may want to try applications of commercial insecticidal soap, sprayed in the early evening and rinsed off the next morning, just in case any residues remain.

NO, NO, NO chemicals!!! Yearly I have a little war with these critters. A heavy blast of water will remove the 'spit' and nymph. They will not return but what appears next is a NEW crop. Every night I go to war and defeat the current army and await the next the following night. Eventually I win ( taking about two weeks). There is some good that comes from the activity: Improved visual acuity. Soldier on!!!
