Which Calloways?
Is it the old fashioned kind of lilac? Not persian or french.
I would love to have one. There is no other fragrance like it.
One of my neighbors used to have one, and there is one still in my neighborhood. It doesn't do great, but it is getting bigger and has a few blooms each year.
I also saw some blooming at a cemetery in East Dallas years ago, so I know there's a chance for success.

I have had mine for almost twenty years............have given it little or no attention, and it blooms faithfully each year. You are welcome to cuttings if you would like to come get them.

Yes, I do miss the smell of lilacs and climbing up those trees when a small lad. They are so beautiful with that wonderful perfume fragrance. But now I have to settle for the satsuma fragrance in the spring.
