Follow Up to Illegal Plants in TX

What you are about to read is probably going to blow you away however check the accompanying link before you get all fired up. My curiosity was piqued from this forum and another about illegal plants in TX. Believe it or not, it is simply illegal to transport any and all plant or pant material across state lines from any other and all other states unless it has an accompanying phyto certificate. I didn't believe it until I called the OP out on their statements and asked for the reference in TDA. The link is provided below. You need to read both parts 1 & 2 and combine. Yes trades which are considered barter under the law, are also prohibited.

I can understand the plants because of viruses and insects, but I think they're going a little too far with the pant material, LOL.

A friend of mine who moved here from Canada told me when she moved from Canada to New Jersey (prior to her move to Texas), she said they could bring houseplants, but not outside garden plants. So, she potted up divisions of her garden plants in houseplant containers and brought them over the border. She told border patrol they were her houseplants and they let it go. I don't know if she brought any of those plants to Texas, but I'm sure she probably brought them as houseplants if she did.

If she brought outdoor plants from Canada to Texas I'm sure they burned to a crisp the first summer they were here!
