Nope. My JBT have actually come out mostly like they look like in the catalog. Very good confirmation despite heavy rains.

I am glad someone had good production from their JBT. This variety was the one I was most excited about this year, but it just didn't perform. I only got a handful of tomatoes. Maybe it was the conditions, but I think I'll drop this one from the list next year. The tomatoes I did get were very attractive, just like the catalog photo too.

I planted JBT for the first time this year and got decent production with no blemishes on the fruit. The taste was pretty good but after I ate a Black Krim right after a JBT, I wondered why I didn't plant more Black Krim instead of planting the JBT. I don't think I will plant the JBT next year either.

I've had the same problem with soft spots and some rotting on ripening fruit. The big difference in my case is that I previously grew JBT only in extra large containers (5-6 cu. ft.) always using fresh potting mix. I never had any of the soft spot problems, just sometimes early season BER. This year I planted them where I had tilled under a crop of snow peas. The other tomato varieties growing here all are doing very well.I guess I'll hope for better luck next year.

I did plant black krim also. The came in earlier, stopped and have started again. I really like the taste of black krim but the JBT produced more and produced all season. The soft spot thing is puzzling because I haven't had that before. I do get BER in everything before the rains start but this isn't BER

I have grown JBT a few times, and they have never had more problems with soft spots than other tomatoes. Probably less soft spots, if anything.

1st year i grew them they had a bit of a grassy flavor, but this year they tasted sort of like wine. Good production, too. It seems they would be very good for a sauce, so i should make a sauce from only JBTs.

Yes, very soft. Skip this one for a better tasting black/brown.
