For #2, we used the Schulter metal edging in our kitchen. At the time, it wasn't available in ORB finish, so I painted and varathaned it before we installed it. After several years, it looks great.

We used Schluter brushed SS edging on our glass tile mosaic edges.

Yes, you can hang a glass door on glass tiles. You must use the right tools. Here is an earlier thread.
