My tiles are fake--right?

I noticed this before but forgot. I just purchased my home--I have marble counters in my bathroom and kitchen. It's real. I also have tile in my bathroom. I was doing a test sample of 511 Porous Plus on a semi-inconspicuous area of the bathroom. After the second coat, I took a close look and realized I don't think it's marble.

It looks digital when you look close, kinda like a stamp or a printed photo when you print a photo on your printer using cheap quality (kinda blocky).

Is this indeed fake marble? What do I have? I just want to confirm--looks like I don't need to take great care not to etch it after all.

I hope 511 Porous Plus won't hurt it?

Thanks!

Difficult to tell from the picture. Find an inconspicious spot and try to make a little scratch with a key or a coin. Marble will scratch. Tile or porcelean is far more difficult....

It looks like ceramic tile with a marble design. I know exactly what you mean about the digital pixilated look up close. It probably won't hurt it but it shouldn't etch like marble would.
