LG Wave Force won't agitate

2 yr old LG Wave Force won't agitate. Senses load, fills, rinses and spins normally but does not agitate back and forth. Starts to move and makes a humming noise, then reverses. Also, Add Garments light stays on during most cycles. Unplugged unit for at least one minute to reset electronics.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like your mode shifting motor has failed. Stuck in spin mode, but no agitate.

Would that allow it to reverse during the fill cycle? Because it is doing that and it looks like the same type of operation as the agitate, just does not go as far.

That depends on whether the impeller plate and wash basket are moving as a single unit or is just the impeller agitating.
