QOD: 2-utlity muslin uses

I have used utility muslin for foundation to sew scrappy strip blocks, backing for denium raggedies, and the batting for other raggedies. I wash it in hot water first because it does shrink. My fam loves the raggedies and they are light enough for our milder climate. Great for throw arounds lol!!!!
Now, I have met a lady that uses it for backings and in Catherdral Windows. She tells me the weave tightens after washing and she has never had any probs with it. She only makes utlity quilts and says it holds up to wash and wear and is soft.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
I am washing sheets in hot water and I threw a large piece in the wash to test. I tore it off the bolt and it tears easily. (not a good sign lol!!)
Have you used utlity muslin for utlity quilts???
