Please help me select a color for my hall bath

My house is very neutral and my style is ecletic. We are working on our hall bath which is used by two kids but is also the main bath in the house (we also have a master and a powder room). We ripped out some 20+ year old pastel tile from the shower and refitted the shower with Swantone 'Gray Granite' for ease of cleaning.

We added a white shower curtain with a subtle tone and tone stripe. The floor is a 12x12 porceline tile with a marble look. We are planning to order a custom vanity since the vanity is built in and a non-standard size. I am considering a black cabinet with a granite top.

The bath at this point is very blah. I would appreciate any suggestions from you talented people regarding paint color, vanity/granite combo and even towel color. My first urgent choice is paint though. Please help.

Thanks!

I would choose a bright perky wall color especially since the kids use it mostly. Maybe an apple green, a plum, or a turquoise. Or a tomato red. Or you can keep the walls neutral and just add lots of bright colors via art, towels, and rugs.

I was thinking of a spa blue. We briefly considered a bold red, but the walls are old and have had wallpaper removed and I am afraid anythin too dark might reveal all of the imperfections. Please keep the ideas rolling. I am going to the paint store tomorrow. Thanks!

SW Halcyon Green or Rain or the next lightest shades on those two strips - love them. Towel color - for a spa look, white or a paler shade of the wall color would work. Otherwise, maybe try the hotel gold color that's common now. Target has some in the Waverly line.

I recently went to Target and bought a rug in every shade of the Waverly line (it was on sale), tried them in my bathroom, chose one and took the others back. Sometimes you just can't tell unless you see it.

I like the idea of a spa blue also. What other colors are near this room? Which paint store/brand are you going to??

I love, love this color but of course they don't name it in the blog. I'd grab a bunch of paint chips in this general zone of green/blue/gray.

Thanks everyone for your input. I went to the paint store today and decided on BM exhale (Aura color AF-515). It is a spa like blue gray color. I'll post when the painting is complete. Thanks again.

I think you should do something like this: see link. The colors are green, red, and white. Bright enough for kids yet classy enough for guest use. The wall paint color is Benjamin Moore Hancock Green. :-)

Dawn, that Exhale is a beautiful color -- I'm looking at it in the fan deck right now. Looking forward to seeing pics when it's done. Also impressed you made a decision on paint color so quickly!

Beacon Gray (BM) is another fantastic choice for a bathroom: clean, crisp & classic! It really is more of a blue than a true gray - looks great against carrera marble (white w/ gray) and white subway tiles with black "pencil" for accent pieces. Good luck with your project - I've heard great things about the aura paints!
