Looks like your drawing was a pretty good match.

Popping the top is pretty common in most of the inside the Beltway areas of Northern VA.

Looks like a pretty good layout to me.

I like how there are basically two wings - the adult wing and the kid wing. The ma. br is separated from the kids rooms by the toilet and closet giving it more privacy. I think he did a good job.

Caveat: Im an old house nut (I mean my house is old and vintage, not me LOL). Ive lived in houses with bathrooms having two doors opening to bedrooms and never liked that arrangement.

If you're in one of the bedrooms you can hear too much of what's going on in the bathroom, even with the door closed. If you're in the bathroom you can hear too much of what's going on in the bedroom (ie I'm referring to "adult activity" which of course is not a concern if kids are in both rooms, but who's to say that at some point you might not have adult children or guests in one of the rooms)

And, I hated going in the bathroom and having to shut and secure so many freakin doors before I could go about my business! If it was my house Id have just one door opening to the hall (located closer to bedroom 2, so it isn't so visible from the top of the stairs).

However if this is the norm for newer houses and/or you prefer it that way - please disregard this comment!

I think you've done a very good job with the layout. The only think I would consider changing are a few details in the master bedroom.

Maybe split the front window, add a side window and only one door into the closet. Just an idea :) {{!gwi}}From Kitchen plans
