That's a blum closer. They, as shown, just snap onto the hinge, we're putting more and more on our cabinets now-a-days. From what I understand (I don't know for sure), $4-5 each give or take

I think these are great, if they are compatible with your hinge. If not, there are other options, but these are far and above the easiest to retrofit.

Does anyone know how much the cabinet companies charge to put them on? We're thinking of doing it ourselves too, but is it worth it?

I asked my custom cabinet company sales person the same question last year. He told me that for purposes of the estimates, they charge $12 for regular pull-out drawers,$25 for full extension, and $45 for blumotion undermounted. I thought this was outrageous until I checked the prices online.

I'm in CT which is a very high cost area, but this cabinet company is a bit further out and has lower costs, but do quality work. I hope this helps.

If your hinges are Blum, you can purchase the Blumotion from Woodworker's Hardware site and attach them yourself right to the hinges for a fraction of the cost that the cabinet company will charge you.

However, if you do NOT have Blum hinges, you can purchase soft closures that get screwed in to the top of your cabinets on the hinge side. That's what we did and it's my favorite thing in the kitchen. Love no slamming doors. They're inexpensive too, and if you purchase 20+, the per unit price is less.

Those (in the OP) are the ones sold at IKEA. I bought an extra to try on my new Scherr's shaker style doors, but the doors are too light to close properly. I literally have to slam them for the soft close to take effect.

Yes, if you have Blum hinges the clip-ons snap on in seconds on all except corner doors. I bought mine at A&H, which, at the time, were the cheapest I found even factoring in shipping.
