Photo Uploading on our Forums

User

Hi folks,

We are currently testing direct photo uploading to our forums. You are certainly welcome to link from off-site photo albums, but we hope that many of you will find being able to upload a resized photo to our servers an easy and convenient way to share your photos.

You will find instructions below the posting window.

Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues.

Best,

Tamara

So, being a technical klutz, (to put it mildly) can I post pictures from my ipad this way? Or do I need to keep using Photobucket?

    Thanks!

You mean their is away to post photos to sites.. When you save them in your iPad photo section.

    Someone tell me how?

I'm not well-versed on iPads (other than listening to my husband whine about neeeeeeeding one ;), but I have heard that Safari doesn't support mobile uploads. I have hard that the iCab browser does support some sites, so you might give that a try.

I got the photobucket app, then post them to that, then post them from there. Sounds like I know what I did, but I think DS actually did it for me.....

Too old for too much technology.....

What's gw's privacy policy on uploaded photos? Do they remain the property of the poster, or does gw assert the right to use the photos as they see fit?

Nancy- that's how I do it on my iPad as well.

You can post a picture directly from Houzz into a post with a pc, but not with an iPad. The iPad is kind of a pain :-( especially with typing--sometimes makes us look like idiots. But, i still love my iPad.

Would love to be able to post a pic without having to use photobucket.

Same thing here. IPad via the direct HTML code, plus that other code that wraps around the direct link code... Don't know how to add it in here without the post reading it as some type of instruction. ... The img src=" " wrapped in brackets.

Any other iPad users found a way around having to add that code?

When "resized photos" is mentioned in direct uploading, does that mean that the kitchen photos will now be the size of the flower photo in the OP's message? If so, waaaay too small for a kitchen photo.

If you click on the resized picture, it will open in its original size in another window.

We're still making tweaks and adjustments and that instruction will also appear in the uploading instructions so that members will know to do this. When I saved the photo of the dandelion to my computer, I mistakenly saved a thumbnail of my picture, which was actually smaller than the image you see on this page. That is why it looks a bit blurry, because it was blown up to fit the default dimensions for our photo display.

When there are a few to several kitchen pics, I know this sounds whiney, but I don't want to click each one to be able to see the details.

Also, I wondered the same things asked by Chiefneil.

How does it work when you have multiple photos and you want to caption each one? How do you preview your photo(s) before you submit?

AnnaA - I found a photo script on line that allows you to post the code you were talking about:

    <img src="Your URL location here" </img>

You don't need the closing tag (the /img part). Just enter a return after the first section.

Oh, and put the enclosing caret after the URL, the >.
