Hi!
I'm hoping some of you outdoor mosaic experts can help me out!
I'm experienced at mosaics but get a lot of requests for outdoor pieces. Through lots and lots of research on this and other forums, I learned about wedi board and thinset...had never used either.
I'm attaching a pic of my crushed glass mermaid, cut from wedi, hangers attached before applying designs, covered front and back with white versabond fortified thinset, the crushed glass was set in the thinset and the textured hair and tail was created with the thinset.
Again, after lots of research, I could never find anything about painting dry thinset so I did it anyway on the body parts of the mermaid. I painted, added a brown wash to bring out the detail and added poly.
so the question is...am I good to go? Have any of you used thinset as texture in outdoor artwork? Have you painted it? How did it hold up?
Thank you so much for any input or advice you can give.
Thank you!
Lucy
