What night stands will go with this bed??

I am planning my next project (after the kitchen makeover) and it is to redo my outdated bedroom. We curently have a golden oak huge waterbed. Today I just bought a mattress after many months of researching. I ordered it from bedinabox.com after reading their amazing testimonials both on & off their site. They have a no questions asked money back guarantee for 90 days as well that sure helped in my decision to buy. I have bad hips so most mattresses hurt my hips so bad that I can't sleep thus the reason we've owned a waterbed for 21 years. Anyway here is a photo of the bed I would like to get in the next couple of months. Love that it has drawers for storage (our bedroom is small) and love the padded leather headboard. Now my tendency is to buy the night stands that match and the dresser/chest of drawers, but every designer says that is a no no! So I'm wondering how hard is it going to be to buy nightstands & chest of drawers that will coordinate but not match?? Help! I'm thinking this will be so much harder than just buying the matching set.

Here's the chest of drawers...look it all the jewelry storage. Are you sure I can't buy the matching set???

I love that bed! I'd sure be tempted to get the set and not worry about designers. :)

How about just the chest of drawers, and not the nightstands. In a small bedroom, that would be a lot of round, metal pulls. For side tables, you could just use round tables with a shelf or drawer, in similar wood tone. Nice bed!

That's a good idea to just buy the chest of drawers & bed but use a different nightstand. How about something like this for a night stand? May make the small room look bigger??

Open to any & all suggestions! I definatly want drawers in the nightstands.

How "small" exactly is the bedroom? Can you give some measurements? Love that chest with the jewelry storage. How neat is that?

Love that bed too....can envision sitting up against the leather headboard at night comfortably reading. Anyway, I like the matching nightstands. I don't have a problem with being so "matchy matchy" in a bedroom compared to a FR or LR.

I have a platform bed like that without the headboard (since ours is in a bay window). When dressed, you barely see the bed (at least the way I dress it) so the matching dresser wouldn't be a big deal. I'd do the two, but definately not the side tables. That's too kit like :o(

Mirror pieces would be lovely, but keep them substantial in scale to go with the bulk of the bed headboard. I'd also love to see some black pieces considered. You can go with a lovely iron urn with a marble top and say a antique sewing table (iron on the bottom) which makes a great night stand, or do a desk on one side :o)

I love the idea of the hidden jewelry storage in that dresser! That is such a great idea. Who makes it?

Universal makes it and the collection is called Westside.

I personally think I would prefer all the pieces to match in a bedroom. Maybe I'm old school, but I think it just looks a little more put together especially in a smaller room. Love the furniture!

I would do the headboard and chest, and skip the nightstands. I think the bed feels very masculine, and so the room might benefit from something more feminine for beside the bed, at least on one side. Maybe a handpainted chest on one side, or one of the mirrored chests suggested, or even a demilune in glass and nickel to match the hardware on the bed. A leather cabinet with nickel tacks and hardware would be great, too.
