Suggestions to darken this section of the window

We are working on drapes for this bedroom. We bought blackout drapes but then realized that the middle panel is taller than the other two sections. Because of the slant in the ceiling by the window, the curtain rod cannot go any higher. Any suggestions on covering up this area to totally darken the room? Leaving it as is defeats the purpose of blackout drapes.

Get a separate blackout roller shade for the middle window and do an inside mount right up at the very top. You will still have some light leakage.

The only way to really block the light here is to do a fixed valance with blackout material in it which would obscure the detail of the slightly higher window on the inside. This may or may not be important to you if blocking the light is the more important aspect in the equation.

Just put a wood valance up there so that it's like the trim on the other windows carries straight across.
