The left side is shaded but the bed goes all the way to the house.

Caladiums would look really nice I think there, give it a kind of resort feel. There are some nice light colored and pink ones or red ones that would look good. If they are still available you could buy a bag of the bulbs and they would be up fairly quick.

I have a flower bed that has similar exposure, but is a little smaller. I placed a statue at the shadiest end and planted arborvitae fern, white caladiuims, red dragon wing begonias and purple trailing torenia. The fern is evergreen for me and the dragon wings are root hardy, although I do have to replace the caladiums and torenia every year. I also have a small black elephant ear at the corner.

When the torenias and caladiums die down, I plant snapdragons and johnny jump ups for winter color. Here is a photo of that bed, although you cannot see the fern since it is shorter than the caladiums and begonias and the photo is taken from front-to-back. The bed I am referring to is to the left side of the photo, as this section is part of an L-shaped flower bed
