Question about IKEA cabinets

Hi all,

I'm currently designing my IKEA kitchen and I'm about done, but I have one question I haven't been able to find an answer for. I am considering using one of the 90" tall pantry cabinets as one side of an external corner in a way that would require me attaching an upper cabinet to the side of the pantry. Is that possible? Will the side of the pantry hold the weight of an upper cabinet? If it wouldn't hold it by itself, would it work to have 2/3 of the upper attached to the pantry and 1/3 to the wall?

It would only attach to the pantry? No, the 3/4" chipboard of the pantry would bow with that much weight hung off it. Post a photo and we could help more.

Thank you, that's what I was afraid of. Would it be possible to reinforce the pantry to support the weight?

Kristine. The upper cabinet attached to the side of the pantry would also hang on the wall rail that Ikea sells to hang uppers so it would definitly work. The upper would not be putting any weight on the pantry cabinet, it would all be on the rail on the wall. I just did my Ikea kitchen with a 90" pantry cabinet and it has a upper cabinet over the fridge.
