everything is so far apart from each other. walk a mile to get to the sink from the table I agree they do not seem right.

My first thought is that you've got lots of lovely windows, and plenty of space - how wonderful. However, your table is far away from the windows - almost like an after thought. And while there's plenty of counter (bench) space, it seems like more than can be used effectively (wasted space?).

This configuration doesn't lend itself to an island, and there wouldn't be enough peninsula space to allow for the people and function you need.

I would consider putting the table in what is shown as the upper right corner in your sketch. Perhaps using a built-in banquette to provide both more storage and the ability to push the table closer to a wall. Plenty of eating space, as well as homework and just hang-out space.

From there, you need to think about the cooking that YOU do. Some families do more meat, others more dairy. You should be able to create tighter zones so you don't need roller-blades to function while still having sufficient storage, prep, cooking and clean up space! Keep the cooking surfaces where they are, but consider moving the sinks closer.

Zone 1 - Upper left - keep cooktop, but move the sink to the closer window (unless you, like me, prefer to do dishes in a hurry and spend time at the window while doing food prep, in which case the sink could go between the windows). The fridge isn't too far away from that triangle, with lots of sight lines.

Zone 2 - Lower area - again keep the cooktop on that wall - bring the sink to that wall and find a functional space between them. You then have a second area that's a great galley with the fridge on the opposite wall.
