The Rock wall is insulated inside and out with rigid insulation similar to a typical concrete foundation wall. This project is in climate zone 5 (less than 4000 heating degree days) and insulated accordingly. Some heat loss occurs at the granite wall but less than at the windows or traditionally insulated crawlspace slab.
